Originally effective November 9, 2023. This revision is effective October 7, 2026, and applies from that date forward. Earlier versions continue to govern activity that took place before it.
Ghost Plugins is a brand operated by The Ghost Company, LLC (“Ghost,” “we,” “us”). This policy covers ghostplugins.com and related Ghost services, including plugins, templates, Plugin Studio, Ghost AI, workspaces, accounts, Ghost+ membership, and the scripts and files we host for installed products (together, the “Services”).
When you download, purchase, access, or use a Ghost product, you receive a license to use it under these terms. You do not receive ownership of the product or Ghost intellectual property. This revision does not reduce rights granted under earlier versions for products already obtained.
Definitions
- Site: one website project, generally one live Squarespace website. Client websites count as separate sites.
- Activation: a product installed or in use on a site.
- Existing project: a site on which a product was properly installed or used while your license or Ghost+ membership covered it.
General terms
Unless a product page states otherwise, Ghost products may be used for personal and commercial projects, including client projects, up to the number of sites your license allows. Customizing a product does not change or expand its license.
Plugin licenses
1 Site License
Install and use the plugin on one site, your own or a client’s.
5 Site License
Install and use the plugin on up to five sites, your own, clients’, or both.
Unlimited Site License
Install and use the plugin on unlimited personal, commercial, and client sites.
No plugin license permits reselling, redistributing, sublicensing, or sharing the product or its source code as a standalone or reusable product.
Template licenses
1 Site License
Use the template as the foundation for one website project, customize it, and deliver the completed website to a client. Starting a different website from the template requires another license. This is different from plugin activations: a template license is used up once a project is built from it and cannot be moved to a new project.
Unlimited Site License
Use the template as the foundation for unlimited personal, commercial, and client projects. You may not provide the original or a substantially unmodified template as a standalone product.
Staging, migrations, and backups
- Staging and development copies of a licensed site, used only to build or test that site, do not count as additional sites.
- Multiple domains pointing to the same site count as one site.
- Moving or rebuilding a licensed site on a new Squarespace site counts as the same site, as long as the old one is retired.
- Keeping backups of a licensed site is permitted.
- For plugins, if you permanently remove a plugin from one site, you may move that activation to another site, as long as you never exceed your license limit at the same time.
Client projects
You may use properly licensed products to build client websites and deliver the completed website to the client, who may keep using the products on that site. Each client site counts toward your license unless it is Unlimited or covered by Ghost+. You may continue to access and maintain a client site you built. Your client may not extract or reuse the products on another site without an applicable license.
Ghost+ membership
While active
- Install and use included Super Plugins on unlimited personal, commercial, and client sites.
- Use included templates on unlimited projects.
- Use Plugin Studio and eligible Ghost+ features to customize products for those projects.
- Start new projects with included products.
After it ends
Products properly installed or used on existing projects while your membership was active may remain on those sites, including client sites you delivered. You do not need to remove them because your membership ended. You may not add membership products to new sites or start new projects with them unless you reactivate Ghost+ or buy an individual license. Plugin Studio editing, Ghost AI, member-only products, updates, and support may end or become limited.
Reactivating
Reactivating resumes unlimited licensing for new projects and does not affect existing projects from an earlier membership.
Duration, updates, and support
Individually purchased licenses do not expire and continue for as long as you comply with these terms. Hosted product files continue to be served for licensed installs while we operate the Services. Updates and support are provided as offered on the product page or through Ghost+, and we do not promise a specific support or update period unless stated there.
Plugin Studio and Ghost AI
You may use customizations and Ghost AI output in properly licensed projects. As between you and Ghost, you own content you provide, and you may use output generated for you, but Ghost keeps ownership of the underlying products, code, and systems. Customizations do not create a new license or add sites to an existing one. Review and test output before publishing; AI output may be inaccurate or similar to output generated for others.
Fonts, icons, presets, and third-party assets
Product demos and previews may show third-party images, fonts, or content that is not included in your license and may need separate licensing. Fonts selected in Plugin Studio come from Squarespace or Google Fonts and are licensed by their owners. Presets you create are yours to use in your licensed projects. You are responsible for rights to third-party content in your final project.
What you may not do
- Install or use a product on more sites than your license permits.
- Sell, share, gift, sublicense, redistribute, or claim ownership of a product, whether free, purchased, or accessed through Ghost+.
- Share product files or code through marketplaces, repositories, memberships, resource libraries, courses, or similar platforms.
- Repackage products to create a competing or substantially similar product.
- Include products as reusable parts of another digital product, such as templates, kits, bundles, or courses, without written permission.
- Bypass licensing, membership, or access controls, or archive Ghost+ products to avoid membership requirements.
Customizing a product for a properly licensed site is permitted and encouraged. Nothing here restricts rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.
Ownership
Ghost products, code, designs, and branding are owned by The Ghost Company, LLC or its licensors. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
License violations
If we reasonably determine a product is used beyond its license, we may contact you, request removal of unauthorized copies, restrict access to the unauthorized use, or suspend accounts for serious or repeated violations. Enforcement is aimed at the violating use and does not revoke properly licensed existing projects.
